Los Angeles is experiencing an exodus of film and TV workers due to rising housing costs and diminishing job opportunities. The entertainment industry has been hit by various challenges, including the pandemic and labor strikes, leading to job losses and reduced programming. Many workers are struggling to survive in a city with high living expenses, prompting some to move to places like Atlanta and New Mexico for work or to pursue new careers. One such individual is Robby Piantanida, a cinematographer and director who recently relocated to Texas with his family to save money amidst dwindling work prospects in L.A. Piantanida's story reflects the financial strain faced by many in the industry, with the hope of a potential rebound in 2025.
