Scientists find another way we're exposed to forever chemicals: Through our skin

A recent study has revealed that "forever chemicals," such as PFAS found in beauty and personal care products, can penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream. Previously, it was believed that these chemicals could not breach the skin barrier. The study showed that PFAS can be absorbed through the skin, with shorter carbon chained compounds having higher absorption rates. While some compounds did not penetrate the bloodstream, longer chain carbons could potentially enter the bloodstream over time. The research highlights the importance of being aware of the products containing PFAS and opting for PFAS-free alternatives. The study raises concerns about exposure to PFAS through routine activities like bathing in contaminated water or using products with PFAS. Experts emphasize the need for consumer awareness and advocate for avoiding cosmetic products containing PFAS. The findings underscore the potential health risks associated with PFAS exposure, urging consumers to make informed choices to minimize exposure to these harmful chemicals.

> “We are continuously surrounded by consumer products that intentionally or unintentionally have things that we probably shouldn’t be using,”

It's crazy to me that companies keep knowingly poisoning people, but there's not been one person jailed and companies are free to keep doing it. The FDA is constantly failing to do their job and protect consumers who have no idea what is in the products they use. There has to be severe consequences for companies whose products hurt people or nothing will change.

One must be naive to not know that all the shampoos, gels, creams, masks and all those introduce various chemicals into our bodies, some are more harmful than others.

This isn't novel. We've known the disastrous effects of plastic clothing since 1993: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8279095/

15% of dogs ended up sterile after wearing polyester underwear for 24 months.

Stop wearing plastic.
