Emirates Pilots Implement Strategies to Cut Fuel Use and Emissions

Emirates has implemented "Green Operating Procedures" to reduce fuel consumption and emissions since 2016. These strategies involve pilot training, advanced technology, and meticulous planning to optimize flight efficiency. In the 2023-2024 financial year, Emirates managed to decrease fuel consumption by over 48,000 tonnes and cut carbon emissions by more than 151,000 tonnes. Specific measures include discretionary extra fuel decisions, flight speed optimization, reduced flap landings, idle reverse thrust usage, reduced engine taxi-in, optimized flight routings, and technology tools like FlightPulse for pilot analytics. Emirates also focuses on center of gravity optimization, minimizing APU use on the ground, and adjusting potable water uplift to enhance fuel efficiency. These initiatives highlight Emirates' commitment to sustainability and innovation in reducing environmental impact while maintaining operational excellence.

Framing this as some "green" measures is just falling for corporate propaganda.

Of course Emirates is desperately trying to save on fuel, so is every other airline. Reducing fuel usage directly increases profitability, of course every pilot should fly in a fuel preserving manner.
