Military horses bolt through London again after three break loose

Three military horses from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment bolted through central London after being spooked by a bus, causing two riders to be unseated. One horse ran into a car in Pimlico before being recovered. The Ministry of Defence confirmed that all horses were safely returned to Hyde Park Barracks. This incident marks the second time in three months that army horses have broken loose in the capital. In a previous incident in April, horses were spooked by rubble during an exercise, resulting in injuries to both personnel and horses. Despite the recent incident, the army assured that only minor injuries were sustained by one horse, and no soldiers were harmed. The Metropolitan police collaborated with the army to locate and secure the loose horses. As of June, most of the injured horses and riders involved in the previous incident had recovered and resumed their duties.

Back when the British Empire was still a thing...didn't they acclimate army horses to the sounds of small arms & cannons, the smells gunpowder & death, etc. - so that even His Majesty's most humble equine servant would not be so easily distracted from its duty?
