After looking through PeeringDB(new to me) and some exchanges, networks, etc, I still have very little understanding of what service is actually being provided here. Is this a backbone network for service providers to lease? Are these typically provided for small groups to interconnect experimental networks? I'm a bit out of my league, but I do have basic networking knowledge (CCNA certified with some experience in an MSP NOC).
