China is installing wind, solar equivalent of 5 nuclear power stations per week

China is rapidly installing record amounts of solar and wind energy, surpassing its ambitious targets and outpacing Australia's renewable energy efforts. The country is on track to meet its 2030 renewable energy goal six years early by installing 10 gigawatts of capacity every fortnight. China's transition to clean energy involves building massive solar and wind farms in the west and connecting them to the energy-demanding east. To stabilize power supply from intermittent renewables, China employs pumped hydro and battery storage. Despite also constructing new coal-fired power plants, China's reliance on coal is decreasing, with renewables expected to surpass coal generation soon. China's shift away from nuclear power towards solar as the foundation of its energy system showcases its commitment to renewables. Energy experts are looking to China for lessons on rapid decarbonization, contrasting with Australia's slower progress and debates over nuclear power. China's efficient execution of its clean energy plan highlights the need for Australia to accelerate its transition to renewables to meet emission reduction targets.

5 x 600mw x 52 is over 150 gigawatts added per year, of baseline power ( which is what nuclear power produces).
