Google Docs adding Markdown import and export

Google Docs has introduced new features to enhance interoperability with other Markdown supporting tools. Users can now convert Markdown to Docs content on paste and copy Docs content as Markdown. Additionally, they can export a Doc as Markdown by going to File > Download and import Markdown as a Doc by going to File > Open or "Open with Google Docs" from Drive. This update targets technical content writers, allowing them to collaborate on software documentation in Docs and export it as Markdown for use in other tools. The new Markdown tools are rolling out for Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. This enhancement follows Google Docs' previous expansion of Markdown syntax support in 2022.
