Tech Industry's Moral Vacuum

The New York Times highlighted how tech elites supported J.D. Vance's rise to power, signaling a shift in the industry's values. These elites, known for innovation, are now backing a Republican party with regressive views on women's rights and immigration. This support contradicts the industry's past image of diversity and inclusivity. While citing concerns like border policies and urban challenges, their backing seems driven by self-interest for tax breaks and regulations. This move reflects a departure from the industry's progressive roots, raising questions about values and legacies. The tech community faces a pivotal moment as influential figures prioritize personal gain over ideals, endorsing politicians at odds with the industry's original ethos. The article also touches on the Democratic party's shortcomings and the potential for change with Biden's departure.

This is not new at all. People here have been fawning over Peter Thiel and PG for years without acknowledging how dangerous they are.

This is a much more natural alignment. Rich people backing Republicans to lower their taxes.

Elon Musk doesn’t care about abortion or parental rights. He is getting a windfall capital gain from Tesla, and wants his taxes as low as possible for when he sells. It will be the difference of billions of dollars for him. So paying Trump $25 million/month is peanuts in comparison.
