FCC Revamps Its Mobile Speed Test App

The FCC has revamped its Mobile Speed Test app to allow consumers to test mobile network data performance and contribute to the FCC's database of real-world mobile broadband speeds. The new app features a "Repeated test" function for series of tests, hands-free mobile tests while driving, and the ability to review speed test data on a map. Users can help others choose the best network in their area and challenge provider-reported coverage using real-world tests. Aggregate data collected through Crowdsource mode informs the Commission's verification and audit work. Additionally, a Background Test mode enables users to schedule automatic tests. The app is free and available for both Android and iOS devices. The FCC aims to improve transparency and empower consumers in assessing mobile network performance.

How is Apple allowing this under the vendor’s Apple Developer account?

We were forced to release our app with the Gov agency’s account to ensure there isn’t any confusion (3-4 years ago). And I kind of agree with that policy (as you can already see from some HN comments)

Is there any form of this test where I don't have to give my contact info?
