Humble Games Lays Off All Employees, Carries on in Name Only

Humble Games, known for indie titles like Signalis and Temtem, has laid off all 36 employees due to financial struggles. The parent company, Ziff Davis, cited delays and rising costs as reasons for the decision. Despite claims of restructuring, all roles within Humble Games have been affected, with a third-party company taking over remaining projects. Former employees expressed frustration, stating that the layoffs signal the end of Humble Games as they knew it. They believe Ziff Davis failed to understand the gaming industry, leading to this outcome. The closure comes after unsuccessful attempts to sell the company and a history of financial challenges. Former employees reminisced about the company's charitable values and collaborative work environment, expressing disappointment over the sudden turn of events. The layoffs mark a significant blow to indie game development and reflect broader issues within the media company's gaming ventures.

It's sad to see a great company like HG to reach this situation, the one and only to offered in that time many of the most influential and foundational indie games, also worried about being fair to players and present a fair alternative to Steam with his DRM-free options.
