NASA head says report of Elon Musk talking to Putin should be investigated

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson has called for an investigation into a report from the Wall Street Journal suggesting that Elon Musk has been in regular contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since late 2022. Nelson expressed concern over the implications of such communications, particularly given SpaceX's role as a key partner for NASA and its connections to U.S. intelligence and military agencies. He emphasized the need for clarity on the nature of these discussions, which reportedly included both personal and geopolitical topics. While Musk has not publicly addressed the allegations, the Kremlin has stated that the two only spoke once, focusing on space and technology. Nelson highlighted the importance of maintaining a nonpartisan approach within NASA and praised the operational success of SpaceX under CEO Gwynne Shotwell, noting that Musk typically allows her to manage the company.
