Ukraine fires UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles at Russia for first time

Ukraine has reportedly fired UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles at targets inside Russia for the first time, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. Previously, Ukraine was restricted to using these long-range missiles within its own borders. The strikes come after the U.S. granted permission for Ukraine to use U.S.-supplied missiles against Russian territory. While Ukrainian officials have not confirmed the use of Storm Shadow missiles, Defence Secretary John Healey acknowledged discussions with his Ukrainian counterpart. The Storm Shadow missile, known for its ability to penetrate fortified positions, has a range of approximately 250 kilometers. The U.S. has also recently approved the use of the Army Tactical Missile System (Atacms) for strikes against Russia. This development follows President Zelensky's calls for long-range missile capabilities to help end the war. The UK Prime Minister has committed to supporting Ukraine with necessary military resources. The situation remains sensitive, with concerns about potential Russian retaliation and the implications of escalating the conflict further.

What's interesting about the Trump election is that it in effect gives Biden a license to give Ukraine one last, (modest) push like this.

Putin will huff and puff, but it's not like he's going to follow through on any of it when he knows his accomplice will be in the White House in just a couple of months.

After all -- why would never jeopardize the (potential) Hail Mary pass that just got thrown his way?

The West doesn't deserve the allies it has in Ukraine.
