Oscilloscope Music has announced the release of its new EP titled "N-Spheres," which has been in development since 2018. This EP represents a culmination of efforts to refine the concept of Oscilloscope Music, where audio signals create corresponding visual patterns on an oscilloscope. The N-Spheres EP features five tracks with a total playtime of approximately 30 minutes, showcasing a more complex and dancefloor-oriented sound compared to previous works. The release is available in a limited edition format on a 3.5" floppy disk, which includes a booklet and executable files that generate audio and visuals in real-time. The floppy disk version is limited to 500 numbered copies, while a digital download option is also available. The accompanying software, OsciStudio 7, has been updated with new features to enhance user experience, including improved timelines, live coding capabilities, and support for projectors. The physical and digital versions of the EP can be ordered, with shipping for the floppy disk expected to resume around December 18th.

If you like this sort of thing, I highly recommend checking out C. Allen’s work. The visuals and music are both really impressive, in my opinion the best out there: https://youtu.be/OP7sTQQ0Blw

The Oscilloscope Music scene has really come a long way! I love the aesthetic and that got me started on a project to convert an old portable CRT TV into an oscilloscope. There's something really satisfying knowing that the visuals directly mirror the sound. Getting something visually pleasing while still sounding musical is a really interesting challenge. Hansi Raber from oscilloscopemusic.com even wrote his own software for that purpose: https://oscilloscopemusic.com/software/oscistudio/

That music is an experience, really nicely done.

Does anybody know if the executable will run under Linux?

That has to be the fanciest packaging for a floppy disk I have ever seen

How is this not a demoscène product? Cause it very much seems to be, though not mentioned as such in the text …?
