Elon Musk's first month of destroying America will cost us decades

In the first month of Elon Musk's administration, significant changes have led to widespread concern about the future of American society. The newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has reportedly caused mass unemployment, with around 10,000 federal workers fired and an additional 75,000 taking buyouts. This upheaval threatens essential services, including the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs, which could lead to increased risks in public safety and healthcare. The economic impact is expected to be severe, particularly in rural areas reliant on federal funding, as many farmers face potential bankruptcy due to halted government programs. Furthermore, Musk's administration has been criticized for its lack of coherent planning, with reports of critical staff being dismissed from agencies like the Department of Agriculture, which oversees public health issues. The administration's aggressive stance towards international relations has also raised alarms, with potential trade repercussions. The article highlights a growing sense of chaos and fear among the populace, as the administration's actions appear to prioritize ideological goals over the functioning of government and societal stability. The long-term consequences of these policies could be felt for decades, affecting not only current citizens but future generations as well.

I recently realized that destroying the USA as we know it is part of accelerationist philosophy, as outlined in things like the "Techno-Optimist Manifesto."

Is that a silly thought on my part? Or, is that what we are actually witnessing?

Perception and interpretation of something is not the same from everyone's view point. A change can always be interpreted as bad by the people who don't like the unfamiliarity of the change. Wait for a few years before jumping to judgements. I think the foreign policies could be meant to win over the friends of China without a fight, which might actually work better, to save money. Bidenomics were much worse, just burning money in wars without much strategy. The situation with China is much better in favor of USA.

The media is just a echo chamber, amplifying and sensationalizing the irrational fears, just for the puny gains of their viewrship.

> Musk has, in the short term, set us up for a shock to the economy from both unemployment and frozen government grants.

Two more economic things to worry about:

1. Trade: Republicans are starting a 4-front trade-war against the US' biggest trading partners. In other words, they'll be creating taxes (both directly and indirectly) on over half of all US international trade volume.

2. Inflation: Republicans are supporting Trump's threat to make the Fed lower interest-rates, and shielding his illegal attacks on agencies similar to the Fed which the law says the President cannot micromanage. If they succeed, it'll make some stats look better in the short-term (e.g. for the math of passing huge tax cuts) but it's ultimately throwing gasoline onto the inflation fire.
