Microsoft removes instructions on how to set up local accounts in Windows 11

Microsoft has removed instructions on setting up local accounts in Windows 11, signaling a push towards using Microsoft accounts. Previously, users could easily use local accounts, but now Microsoft encourages linking user accounts to Microsoft accounts during installation. The company has even removed information on converting local accounts to Microsoft accounts. While Microsoft emphasizes the benefits of using a Microsoft account for integration and security, some users prefer local accounts for privacy reasons. The removal of instructions may make this option less accessible to average users. Despite the changes, it is still possible to use local accounts in Windows 11, even though the official guide no longer includes instructions for converting Microsoft accounts to local accounts.

Amateur hour over there. I’m not sure what’s going on at Microsoft, but it really seems like the quality of the decision making on the product level has gone down a lot in the Windows org.

LMAO, at the bottom of the "switch local to Microsoft account" instructions, they say "Sign back in with your new local account". This was also the case before they removed the Microsoft-to-local instructions.
