Overthrowing Our Tech Overlords

Yanis Varoufakis discusses the concept of technofeudalism and the challenges posed by big tech companies in his book "Technofeudalism." He highlights how individuals are increasingly controlled by cloud-based capital, leading to the loss of personal autonomy and the commodification of identity online. Varoufakis argues that the liberal individual has been eroded by the demands of cloud capital, which manipulate behavior and attention through algorithms. He warns of the dangers of online bigotry and the emotional toll of living in a technofeudal society. The author proposes a radical solution to counter technofeudalism by advocating for democratized companies where employees collectively make decisions through a voting system, aiming to redistribute power and wealth within organizations. Varoufakis criticizes social democratic governments for aligning with financial interests, leading to the rise of cloudalists who operate beyond traditional regulatory frameworks. He emphasizes the need for a new revolution to reclaim individual liberties and challenge the dominance of big tech in the digital age.

Just imagine the scale of the black market and corruption such a system would bring. It would be truly staggering.

Curiously, there is no mention whatsoever of how law enforcement would work in this brave new world. Neither is there any provision for what to do with people who'd like to opt out of this utopia. Why would they do that? Because they believe they are better than average and can do better than what this system will give them. Newsflash: most everyone thinks they are better than average, if even a little.

Lastly, if Zuck and Bezos get a single share in this alternative universe - same as any employee - what's the rationale for being a founder?
