Google no longer developing Material Web Components

Google has stopped actively developing Material Web Components (MWC) and reassigned engineers working on it. MWC provided a library of Material 3 components for developers to use on websites. Despite Material Web 1.0 stabilizing in October 2023, all future plans for MWC have been abandoned, and it has entered maintenance mode. The focus has shifted to supporting Google's internal Wiz framework, leading to the reassignment of MWC engineers. Google aims to merge Angular and Wiz to create a highly performant framework. While Material Web Components are no longer actively staffed, Angular Material for Angular still exists as an alternative. This change reflects Google's strategic shift towards supporting its internal framework over Material Web Components.
