Microsoft 365 apps have recently added support for the OpenDocument Format 1.4, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This update ensures that ODF files will now be saved in the ODF 1.4 format, offering various new features and improvements. Users can still open ODF 1.3 files in Microsoft 365 apps, but they will be saved as ODF 1.4. Notable enhancements in ODF 1.4 include support for tables in shapes, lists starting at 0, non-overlapping images and shapes, additional writing modes, and more. Excel now includes adjustments for error values and color filter settings, while PowerPoint supports slide numbering from 0 and text direction within table cells. This feature is available to Current Channel users on specific Windows and Mac versions. Users are encouraged to provide feedback through the app to help improve the experience.
