Federal funding for major science agencies is at a 25 year low

Federal funding for major science agencies in the United States is currently at a 25-year low, with cuts affecting agencies like the National Science Foundation and NASA. Despite bipartisan public support for scientific research, budget constraints have led to decreased funding levels, impacting the ability to attract and train a scientific workforce. The recent reduction in appropriations for science agencies comes at a time when business sector investment in research and development is on the rise. The budget squeeze is attributed to fights over the debt limit and government shutdown threats, hindering the implementation of laws like the CHIPS and Science Act aimed at stimulating semiconductor production and boosting research. As the U.S. struggles to maintain its global leadership in scientific research, countries like China are increasing their investment in research, surpassing the U.S. in high-impact papers published and research spending. To remain competitive, the U.S. will need to prioritize and increase funding for scientific research to support innovation and economic competitiveness.

The claim sounds fake, but there's a $30 paywall to access the study they base their claim on, so I guess we'll never know. Anyone with access want to post the actual data? What graphs there are in the article don't seem to match the claim.
