Xkcd 2957: A Crossword Puzzle

The xkcd webcomic announced a special 10th-anniversary edition of WHAT IF?, set to be released in November 2024. The edition will feature revisions, annotations, new illustrations, and answers to intriguing questions. Readers can preorder the book on the website. The comic strip for the day was inadvertently inspired by a Buttersafe comic from 2011. The website also features a variety of other comics, including Three Word Phrase, SMBC, and Dinosaur Comics, among others. Additionally, xkcd provides tips on technology and government, a climate FAQ, and information about Katharine Hayhoe. The site humorously suggests viewing it with outdated technology for the best experience and is licensed under Creative Commons for sharing purposes.

I'd almost go as far as saying this is an A+ puzzle, it's not quite there though, so I'd have to give it an A.

I thought this was going to be too difficult but, after a few clues, I'm sure I'm going to Ace it.

A missed opportunity for 65 clues.

Notably missing from the clues is "a famous quote from Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli."

Or I'm just old.

Fantastic puzzle! I've got them all except "string whose SHA-256 hash ends in '…689510285e212385'". How am I ever supposed to guess that? What does Randall think I am, a supercomputer?

I'm stuck on 21 across - default paper size in Europe. Surely it should be "A4"?

I immediately knew the answer to 1 Down, but it still took a while to get the joke.

If you want the answers, you can find them here: https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/2957 (great site for when you don't get an xkcd joke). But, really, give it a try on your own first.
