Why Mexico Is Poorer Than the US

The article discusses why Mexico is economically weaker than the US, attributing it to a combination of geographical, historical, and strategic factors. Mexico's geographic features, such as mountains, deserts, and jungles, provide natural protection but also pose challenges for trade and defense. The port of Veracruz, crucial for maritime trade, is deemed insecure and inefficient compared to other ports in the region. Additionally, Mexico's proximity to the US, a powerful neighbor with strategic control over key territories and waterways, limits Mexico's geostrategic independence. The historical context of invasions through Veracruz, including by Hernán Cortés and the French, highlights vulnerabilities in Mexico's defenses. The article suggests that Mexico's economic inferiority to the US is influenced by these factors, leading to a subordinate relationship between the two countries.

The article for how much I could read until asking to subscribe blames the countries woes entirely on the USA and geography. No mention of Cartels, blatant corruption, and huge wealth gap.

No good discussion can come of such a blinded argument.
