'Lost' ball located 91 years on (2005)

A tennis ball stuck in Lincoln Cathedral's archway since 1914 was recently rediscovered after the family of the boy who threw it, Gilbert Bell, requested its return almost a century later. The ball, lodged in the cathedral's moldings, went unnoticed for decades until Bell's nephew wrote a letter expressing concern about its potential dislodgment during cathedral maintenance. Despite the family's playful request, they hope the ball remains in place for future generations. The cathedral staff, who had never noticed the ball before, confirmed they have no immediate plans to clean the area where it is located. The ball, believed to be one of the oldest surviving examples in the UK, predates the earliest known tennis ball at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum from 1916. The family continues to visit the cathedral to check on the ball's status, adding a unique historical touch to the cathedral's architecture.

on one of the first horizontal iron beams of a new suppermarkt, 3 meter up, sits a cup from a construction worker. I see him put it there. 8 years later it still sits there, in front of the window. The cleaners don't bother with it. Where would they put it? Bring it to the kitchen 40 meters away? Why bother?
