Elon Musk's X pushes Trump tags on all US users

Elon Musk's social media platform, X, owned by Trump supporter Elon Musk, is displaying Trump campaign content to all U.S. users, even if they have blocked or muted Trump-related topics. The platform, previously known as Twitter, showcases banner ads for the Trump campaign with hashtags like #Trump2024 and #MAGA, featuring images of the former president and American flags. Despite previous bans on political ads, Musk lifted these restrictions in 2023, allowing such content to be promoted. Users who had muted or blocked these tags still encountered the advertisements in the app's "explore" section. Musk's endorsement of Trump and significant financial support to the former president have raised concerns about the platform's neutrality and the spread of misinformation. This move contrasts with Musk's earlier claims that the platform should maintain political neutrality, as X joins other platforms in promoting Trump's campaign content.

There’s a few different goals of advertising but with near 100% name recognition, is this going to change anyone’s mind? Do you really want to link Trump’s name, someone famous for seeming like an outsider with big business?
