Read original articleElon Musk's social media platform, X, has experienced a slowdown in user growth, with 251 million global daily active users in the second quarter of this year, marking a modest 1.6% increase from the previous year. Musk's leadership has been divisive, leading to a loss of advertisers due to his free speech stance and removal of content moderators. The platform faces competition from Meta's Threads, which has 175 million monthly active users compared to X's claimed 600 million. Despite an initial surge in interest, Threads usage declined rapidly after its launch. X has been expanding into the EU and attracting celebrities like Taylor Swift to boost its user base.
