Marvell Teralynx 10 51.2T Switch in Volume Production with SONiC Support
Marvell's Teralynx 10 51.2T switch chip is in volume production, supporting high-bandwidth networking with lower power consumption and flexible configurations, projected to significantly increase shipments by 2028.
Read original articleMarvell has announced that its Teralynx 10 51.2T switch chip is now in volume production. This new 5nm switch chip can support up to 64 ports of 800GbE or 512 ports of 100GbE, catering to the growing demand for high-bandwidth networking solutions. According to projections from 650 Group, shipments of 51.2 Tbps switches are expected to increase significantly, from approximately 77,000 units in 2024 to 1.8 million by 2028, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 120%. The Teralynx 10 switches are designed to provide high bandwidth with low latency, allowing for flexible configurations that can reduce the number of switches needed in larger clusters. Additionally, the power consumption of the new switches is lower compared to previous generations, with the 800GbE optics consuming 50% more power than 400GbE optics, yet the overall power per 100GbE link is halved compared to the Teralynx 7 generation. Another significant feature of the Teralynx 10 is its support for SONiC, an open-source network operating system, which continues the legacy of Innovium, acquired by Marvell. This combination of high performance, flexibility, and energy efficiency positions the Teralynx 10 as a key player in the rapidly expanding 51.2T switch market.
