The Acolyte, a Star Wars prequel series on Disney Plus, has been canceled after its first season. Despite introducing intriguing characters and expanding the Star Wars lore, the show struggled with viewership and faced backlash from fans regarding its cast and premise. The cancellation follows a broader strategy by Disney CEO Bob Iger to reduce spending on high-budget projects in an effort to improve the company's financial health. When I saw the teaser to Force Awakens I was generally excited. I honestly thought Disney might be doing a good job with this.

It comes out. After watching the first 10 minutes I realised its just a remake of new hope. I guess shuffling characters and renaming planets would fool us. Oh, but don't worry... the starkiller is LIKE the deathstar, but bigger!

Other than Force Awakens and Rogue One, I have not seen any other Star Wars from Disney. If I did I honestly cannot remember it! I only watched Rogue One because a friend came round with it one day. It was "ok" but certainly not deserving of any praise. When I hear people say Rogue One is the best Disney Star Wars... it really does not say much about the others.

As for the TV Series, I have no interest in them, either. While I hear Mandalorian is good, I just dont want Disney to claim my view count.

As for the Acolyte, the clips I saw on youtube look really poor.

For context, I am very fortunate to grow up with the original trilogy.

As for the prequel trilogy, I have a love/hate relationship with it.

As for the sequel trilogy, or anything that came out of Disney, is non canon in my eyes.

> The Acolyte series introduced some very compelling new characters and lore to the Star Wars canon

That’s debatable if the “compelling” characters couldn’t even last more than a single season.

Oh. That's too bad. I really liked The Acolyte. I would have liked to know how it turned out.

I think it helps that I have zero experience with any of the formerly-canon High Republic stuff. I have no expectations to undercut.

I liked the characters, the writing, and the performances. It had some of the best combat that I've seen in Star Wars -- in the sense that it had fewer jump cuts and more letting the actors do the work. I especially enjoyed Manny Jacinto in the role of Darth Whatever; it was such an idiosyncratic choice.

I have some quibbles with the plotting -- they were trying to hide a secret that didn't merit being hidden, and the overall arc was pretty predictable. But that's something I'm used to ignoring.

I guess it must have been expensive to produce, and it looked it. I don't really get the economics of any of those shows, since the entire thing is on an all-you-can-eat pricing.
