Gemini Live rolling out to all Android users for free

Google has announced that its conversational AI assistant, Gemini Live, is now available for free to all Android users. Previously, access was limited to subscribers of the Gemini Advanced plan, which required a $20 monthly fee. The rollout allows users to engage in natural, multi-turn conversations with the assistant without any subscription. Currently, there is no Gemini app for iOS, meaning Apple users will not have access to this feature. The update positions Gemini Live as a competitor to ChatGPT's Voice Mode, which is still in alpha testing and also requires a subscription. Both Gemini Live and ChatGPT's Voice Mode are expected to incorporate camera functionality in the future to enhance user interaction by providing contextual information. Meanwhile, Apple is set to introduce its own AI features, branded as Apple Intelligence, with the upcoming iOS 18, although full access will be limited to devices with the A17 chip or higher.
