Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 also rumored with 24GB memory

NVIDIA is rumored to be developing the GeForce RTX 5080 with a potential 24GB memory configuration, utilizing 3GB GDDR7 modules. This follows concerns regarding the initially speculated 16GB VRAM, which some users found disappointing. The RTX 5080 is expected to maintain a 256-bit memory bus, but the new memory configuration could allow for enhanced performance. The speculation aligns with NVIDIA's previous approach with the RTX 4080, where they faced backlash over memory specifications. The RTX 5080 is said to use the GB203-400 GPU, indicating a full GPU configuration, which may limit the addition of more cores. However, the details remain unconfirmed, and the information circulating may not be finalized, as NVIDIA is still working on board numbers rather than specific SKU names. The announcement of the RTX 5080 is anticipated to occur in 2025, alongside the RTX 5090, which is rumored to target a 600W power requirement. As with all rumors, this information should be taken cautiously until official confirmation is provided.

We are fast approaching the point where new Nvidia GPUs only come as eGPUs with their own power supply and C14 connector. People in cold climates will be able to mount it outside their window for winter cooling.

Consuming an insane amount of energy if the specs are correct.
