NOAA all services [going down] (URGENT)

NOAA's services, particularly those hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), are set to go offline starting April 4, 2025. This shutdown will impact numerous NOAA websites, including research.noaa.gov, epic.noaa.gov, and drought.gov, among others. A group of individuals is actively working to scrape and preserve data from these sites before the shutdown occurs. Various team members have begun scraping different subdomains using a tool called Zimit, while others are coordinating efforts to ensure comprehensive coverage of the affected services. There are concerns about account-walled pages that may limit access to certain datasets, and discussions are ongoing about the extent of the data that needs to be preserved. The urgency of the situation has prompted requests for assistance and the sharing of scraping strategies among the team members involved.

A subset of HN contributors continuously object to (and flag) any post suggesting that current US federal policy is destroying our scientific and technological infrastucture.

NOAA, USAID, USDA, CDC, NASA, NIH, etc. all represents hundred of millions of dollars and millions of person years of scientific effort.

The DOGE-ies and their ilk are flushing that all down the toilet. The notion that they're saving the US any money would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.
