Figma will use your content to train its AI

Figma, a popular design platform, announced plans to utilize user-generated content to train its AI models, introducing a suite of AI-powered features at its recent conference. These features aim to enhance user productivity and creativity, including automatic layer renaming and design generation from text prompts. Figma's decision to use customer content for AI training has raised privacy concerns among users, despite the company's emphasis on data security measures. Users have the option to opt out of content training by adjusting settings in their accounts, with the default setting varying based on the plan type. The deadline for opting out is set for mid-August 2024. Figma's approach of making content training opt-out rather than opt-in has drawn criticism for potentially compromising user privacy. As the implementation date approaches, users must weigh the benefits of improved AI features against concerns about data privacy and intellectual property.

"AI" word is unneeded. The company announced it will inspect and use your private content from a service you paid for.

Well well well, it didn't take too long to get those slimy defaults in.

> Note: Prior to Config 2024, we had one setting that managed AI features called Figma and FigJam AI features. For any team and organizations who have this setting disabled as of June 26, 2024, Figma will honor the setting and turn off AI feature access and content training by default.

I don't get it. When they will trun on AI features for me will they immediately suck up all my data before I manage to turn those defaults off or will there be any confirmation/popup before I fully onboard with the change. I hope GDPR covers cases like this one.

EDIT: answer is in FAQ "Figma won’t begin training on content for accounts with the Content training toggle on until August 15, 2024."
