LGBT and Marginalized Voices Are Not Welcome on Threads

LGBT and marginalized voices have faced challenges on the social media platform Threads, which was seen as an alternative to Twitter. Users reported feeling shadow-banned and encountering hate speech that went unpunished. GLAAD released a report highlighting Meta's failure to moderate harmful content targeting marginalized groups across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Meta's vague policy changes, such as opting users out of political content, have raised concerns among activists and content creators. Instances like the suspension of the popular LGBT account Le Coin des LGBT+ without explanation and the blocking of URLs like the New Popular Front's website have fueled frustration. The lack of transparency in moderation processes and delayed responses from Meta have led to further distrust and frustration among users, especially those from marginalized communities. These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by LGBT individuals and activists on social media platforms.

Main point is link to left-green French alliance website was unpostable on threads... that sounds pretty bad if true. I can see a trans author sees that through a subjective lens, but it affects everyone, right?

Sounds like he wanted an echo chamber and didn't get one. In which case maybe he'd be best off joining Mastodon instead?

Noticed a marked uptick in the volume of absolute garbage on Threads over the last few months. With any social media platform, it's expected. But Threads was originally a bit of a haven away from the hellscape that was Twitter/X.

So much spam.
