Jobhunters flood recruiters with AI-generated CVS

Job seekers are increasingly utilizing artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT, to enhance their job applications, with estimates suggesting that around 50% of applicants are employing these technologies to craft CVs and cover letters. This trend has resulted in a significant influx of applications, often leading to lower quality submissions as candidates rely on AI-generated content without adequate editing. Recruiters are facing challenges in sifting through the increased volume of applications, which has more than doubled for each job posting. Many candidates are using AI to streamline their application process, but this has raised concerns about the authenticity and individuality of their submissions. Some employers, particularly in the Big Four accounting firms, have adopted a strict stance against the use of AI in applications, warning candidates of potential repercussions. Additionally, there is a growing trend of candidates using AI to cheat on recruitment assessments, with a notable disparity in success rates based on whether they used free or paid versions of AI tools. Despite the automation of application processes, recruiters emphasize the importance of human interaction in the final selection stages to identify genuine candidates.

So the recruiters can tell the resume is written by the AI using tell-tale signs like "using American grammar" and being "bland"? These are the people who decide if I'm worthy of hiring consideration???

In the middle of fruitless job hunt, it makes me feel a bit better. It's definitely NOT me.

This article is infuriating. Morgan McKinley calling job seekers 'lazy' makes me sick. The entire article misses the most obvious point. If AI can easily pass your selection processes, then the problem is your selection process.

CVs need to show the candidate’s personality, their passions, their story, and that is something AI simply can’t do.

I'm sorry but if you honestly think a CV can give any reasonable insight into someones personality, then you have no business reviewing CVs in the first place.

A carefully crafted statement taking hours to prepare would be fine if the recruiter actually read the CV and statements!

AI vs automated recruitment software.

This feels like such a dystopian waste of everyone’s time.

Feel pity for the people that need to deal with it. Networking is ultimately the way to go if you can

They pretend to read, we pretend to write.

If LinkedIn wasn't already thoroughly enshittified, AI has now made it 10X worse, for both sides.
