Phone 16 Pro Demand Has Been Lower Than Expected, Analyst Says
Demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max is lower than expected, with total sales down nearly 13% compared to the iPhone 15 series, attributed to missing features and competition.
Read original articleAnalyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max has been lower than anticipated since their pre-order launch. According to Kuo's supply chain survey, total sales for all four iPhone 16 models reached approximately 37 million units during the first weekend, marking a nearly 13% decline compared to the iPhone 15 series last year. Specifically, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max saw first-weekend sales drop by 27% and 16%, respectively, compared to their predecessors. While the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus experienced higher demand than the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, this was insufficient to counterbalance the decreased interest in the Pro models. Kuo attributes the lower demand for the Pro models to the absence of Apple Intelligence features at launch, which are set to be introduced with iOS 18.1 in October. Additionally, the iPhone faces significant competition in the Chinese market, further impacting sales.
- Demand for iPhone 16 Pro models is lower than expected.
- Total sales for all iPhone 16 models dropped nearly 13% compared to the iPhone 15 series.
- iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max sales fell by 27% and 16%, respectively, during the first weekend.
- Standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models saw higher demand than their predecessors.
- Absence of Apple Intelligence features at launch and competition in China are key factors in lower demand.
